he was a pedophile and he always murdered his victims. she was dead when she was running, it was her soul escaping her body.
He killed Suzy because he got so bored watching the endless scenes of her trapezing around the outskirts of heaven like Anna Paquin on the beach in The Piano, and Mark Wahlberg looking sad and miserable that it drove him insane. He is a serial killer, and a child rapist. He tried not to kill her by killing animals but that stopped working and he finally just killed her
In the book I believe it said he had tried it with other girls before, so I guess he was just crazy. And when she's running around, she's in her own heaven.. The way she imagined it.

From what I got from the movie he was just a psycho killer, he just liked killing.
