hes a mini chihuahua and is skin and bone. He eats like crazy though? He doesnt have worms and he isnt sick. The vet checked him. He is allergic to human food (gives him diarrhea) and only eats dog food when hes starving. But like i said, he'll pig out. What do i do?How can i get my dog to gain weight?
You need to talk to your vet --- there may be a specialized food available to help your dog put on weight. Otherwise, it sounds like your dog is healthy, I don't think it would be a good idea to start trying to "make your dog" gain weight unless your vet has advised you to do so.
You might want to check the feeding guidelines on your dog food bag to ensure you are giving him the proper amount per day. If your dog doesn't want / like his food try mixing a couple of his favorite treats with the dog food to entice him.How can i get my dog to gain weight?
Stop giving him human food and give him a "good quality " dog food. Such as Taste of the Wild.
And there is no such dog as a "mini" Chihuahua, they come in one size only. Under 10 inches high at shoulder and at adult hood no more then 4-7 pounds in weight.
