Please HELP! Why am I having this crazy hand pain?

The pain is the skin located between my thumb and pointer finger,in between those two bones, that area of skin. The pain is crazy and that area is swollen. Also my hand feels a little numb and it's difficult to move my fingers especially my thumb and pointer finger. It is difficult to make a fist with my hand and just generally move it.Any ideas what it could be?

I know I have to see a doctor I'm just doing some homework beforehand.

Also I'm only 17 so I don't know what really applies here. Please HELP! Why am I having this crazy hand pain?
See your health care provider as soon as possible (orthopedic surgeon or hand specialist), for consultation. DeQuervain's tenosymovitis--the most common type of tenosynovitis disorder characterized by the tendon sheath swelling in the tendons of the thumb. Also check for Gamekeeper's thumb.

I hope this helps you. And good luck.
