Is my dog going crazy or just jelous?

I have two dogs who are a little over ten years old.

one just had a litter of 4 puppies who are healthy (getting fat!)

and thats cool. but my other dog who which so happens to be the grandmother of the puppies is acting really strange. she wants the puppies to nurse from her (shes bone dry) and not the mother dog.

She stalks the puppies all day and blocks anyone from coming near them, including the mother. she stays up all night looking for them if I attempt to separate her from the puppies.

so what should i do now. just keep them separated? Is my dog going crazy or just jelous?
Whoa, wait a second, back up.

You bred a ten year old dog?? And you're wondering who's crazy.
shes jelous, and probably just loves the puppies!

if shes causing a problem, then i think u should separate them.Is my dog going crazy or just jelous?
Neither jealous or crazy, just being a dog. I would be willing to bet the older dog is the dominant one of the pair. In a pack of wild dogs, she would be the one to mate and have puppies, so in some sense she thinks the puppies are hers.

About all you can do is keep them seperated until the puppies are weaned.
Its just maternal drive taking over...I had a dog that adopted my cat's kittens once. She wouldnt let mama near the babies.

Some dogs just have a very strong maternal drive and accept ANY baby (of any species) as theirs.

Just try and keep grandma separated some of the time, particularly if she is aggressive towards mama.
