Small rawhide bones safe for 2 month old pomeranian?

my friend just got an 8 week old pomeranian and she goes crazy for these small rawhide bones "Hartz rawhide yummie bones"



is it safe for poms?Small rawhide bones safe for 2 month old pomeranian?
not only is Hartze nasty, but formaldehyde is used in the making of rawhide to give it a shelf life of about a million yrs. AND if the dog doesn't chew it small enough to pass through the bowels, the dog will end up needing surgery to remove the pieces because rawhide isn't digestible. stomach acids can't break it down.



and FYI - Hartze flea and tick drops have been known to kill dogs/cats.
well I never give my poms rawhide bones nomatter how old they are. rawhide bones can get stuck in their teeth and cause a great amount of pain for the dog.

why not try suggesting to your friend to get her pom a chew toy instead?? they are alot safer. :)

they can also get stuck in their throat or intestines and can choke them or cause a large amount of other problems.

please suggest to your friend to get milk bones or something else besides rawhide bones.

Rawhide bones are not good for dogs. They can get gummy and cause hacking/choking. They are also horrible for their teeth. Try the cornstarch bones at your local pet store. Dogs love em and the keep their teeth healthy. I cant remember the name of the brand at this moment. Sorry!
Hate to tell everyone this, but in kennels and vet hospitals, they never give raw hides. Raw hides are not good for ANY DOG. But, not a lot of people know that, and the industry sure isn't going to tell you that. Try googling info about raw hides and what vets say. They can splinter inside dogs, and they often cause diarrhea, they don't digest well.



Try the bones in your store that look exactly like bones, with meat residue on them, but are specifically smoked for dogs so they don't splinter and are easy to digest. Believe me, she'll love them.
rawhide bones aren't good for any dog. tell your friend to get greenies for his/her dog. greenies are these green colored bones that they sell at almost all pet supply stores. my pom loves them!
NO!! They are bad for puppies especially ones as small as pomeranians. The raw hide can swell in their stomach and make them very sick. My 4 month old pomeranian is not allowed to have them! I recommend getting a puppy kong and putting puppy ziggies in it or an everlasting treatball with the everlasting treat. My pom loves both of them. Nylabone also has edible bones that he loves. Just make sure not to give to many it can upset their tummy.

In my honest opinion, rawhides aren't safe for any dog of any age. They can get stuck in the intestines or throat if the dog chews off a piece that's too big and tries to swallow it. Rawhides are known to cause quite a few problems, and, in the long run, aren't really worth it. I prefer real bones (like butchers bones that you get in pet stores or the pet aisle at your local department store like Wal*Mart or Meijer), pig ears, etc... for dogs, even small dogs, as you can get these in sizes appropriate for them. I definatley wouldn't recommend a chew toy like this for a dog under a year under any circumstances, as they haven't taught themselves how to chew and eat SLOWLY, and have a tendancy to swallow things whole as they get excited. I wouldn't recommend these treats for this dog at all. Just my personal opinion, however. Best of luck to your friend and the dog!
I have pomeranians. My dogs have never seen or tasted a raw hide.

I never feed raw hides and never will.

I think they are too dangerous for small dogs.
Sure are, i give all my poms raw hide bones. When they get a bit tattered, remove them as they can get lil bits off and choke, id love to see pics!



Its better for them to have have rawhide and soft toys to chew rather than your furniture!!
rawhide is safe for ALL breeds- especialy teething puppys- dont wory- its not just safe,... it's healthy-

real bones are bad- (some times) dont give them one for more than 3-7 days of active chewing if it breaks the bone it will get bone splinters-
