Parvovirus is a severe gastrointestinal disease. It initially causes weakness, depression, and lethargy. After a few days to weeks, it causes vomiting and lack of appetite. The dogs develop a very high fever. Very severe diarrhea ensues, gray in color, often with blood and tissue. Because of the vomiting and diarrhea, the dogs become very weak and dehydrated. Puppies and dogs less than two years old, may also suffer from heart disease caused by the virus, causing sudden death.
parvo is usually a puppy illness..if she is really skinny just make sure she has plenty available to eat..and watch her closely. if your still worried seek a vets opinionWhat is the symtoms of parvo? can a dog be too old to get it?
His/her poop will stink BAD, diarrhea, vomiting. I recommend a vet check immediately. My experience has been that it is not limited to pups.
My peek had parvo at 6 months and almost died. the symptoms are vommiting, bloody diarhea and pink gums. The secret to a home remedy is beef liver(fried) and pedialyte to drink(1/4 cup every two to three hours) you must go to the vet to get diagnosed b4 attempting to treat. they will charge you $1500 and keep her for 7 days and guarantee you that they will save her life. the home kit cost $250 and they will supply you with needles to inject her with fluids till she's able to drink. A lot of TLC and that remedy will cure her if its not broken down the immune system yet. that happens in about 48hrs. Good Luck!
Parvo is generally a puppy disease. Is your dog older than 2? Symptoms include vomiting, bloody diahrrhea, fatigue. Parvo is a disease of the intestinal lining that will eat through the lining of the gut. Once contracted and if treated immediately odds are not good for survival. A blood test at the vet's office is needed to determine if your dog has parvo. If it is an older dog, sounds like it could be hookworms, buy Lassie dog wormer at wal-mart and feed your dog pedialyte to treat the dehydration you can use an eye dropper to get it down her throat.
a nursing dog needs LOTS of food and clean fresh available. The best bet is giving her puppy food, and wet(can) food. the puppies will drain her, so she needs a easy way to replinsh.
Older dog usually don't get parvo but the dog will get very skinny and there bathroom will be running and there even may be blood. If you think your dog has it you should run it to the vet. Make sure the dog has lots of water.
get her checked by a vet she might have a calcuim defenciancy it will cause her to act like she is nuts and she will also foam at the mouth you might want to bottle feed the puppies for awhile if there not older enough to eat food on there own separate her from them for a couple hours a day that might help to if possible though take her to a vet
